Launch of theÌýInternational Architecture Workshop: City ScalesÌý
InÌýaÌýglobalizedÌýand constantly changing world, architecture cannot be conceived from an isolated or monocultural vision. From this standpoint the ‘International Architecture Workshop: City Scales’ was conceived as a collaborative academic endeavour by XJTLU (Xian Jiatong Liverpool University)Ìý Shanghai, China, Universitat La Salle in Barcelona, Spain and the ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ in Sri Lanka. This initiative aims to amalgamate three distinct architectural vantage points originating from Shanghai, Barcelona, and Colombo. 8 students and two faculty members from each foreign university will participate in the programme with 16 students and 4 faculty members from the Department of Architecture, ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ.Ìý
Workshop objectives:
· Understanding the architectural scale: Discover how different contexts (Shanghai, Barcelona and Colombo) interpret and manage the scales in their architecture.
· Multicultural Immersion: Foster an enriching learning environment through immersion in different cultures, traditions, and architectural practices.
· Promote sustainability: Analyze and learn about sustainable techniques and materials used in different parts of the world.
· Creation of synergies: Strengthen the relationship and understanding between the three universities, generating a global network of students and academics.
· Establish an intercultural and collaborative learning environment where students explore, comprehend, and design based on the varied approaches to sustainability, both traditionally and in the present and future, across the three cultures.
