Paying homage to the 61-year-old history of Architecture Education in Sri Lanka, we the Department of Architecture celebrate 50 years as a Department at the ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ in 2022. Although architectural education commenced in Sri Lanka in 1961, it was established at the ‘Department of Architecture at the ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ’ only 50 years ago, in 1972. The Department was officially commenced in 1972, as a course offered by the University of Ceylon’s Katubedda Campus which is ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ today. Since then it has grown as a leading architectural teaching and learning institute in Sri Lanka producing architectural professionals to the country during 50 years of time period.
An event was held at the Department Auditorium on 25th October 2023 with the participation of eminent personalities, professional institute, staff and students representative. The official website of the anniversary was also launched at this event.
