The Division of Environmental Engineering has a strong resourceÌýbase, and it is one of the leading groups of environmentalÌýmanagement education in Sri Lanka. The aim of this postgraduateÌýprogrammeÌýis to provide a knowledge, training and expertiseÌýin theÌýfieldsÌýof environmental management, pollution controlÌý(water, soil, air, noise etc), water and wastewater treatmentÌýprinciples, solid waste management, sustainable development,Ìýnatural resource management and other relatedÌýfields. InÌýaddition to formal classroom-based activities, theÌýprogrammeÌýincludes laboratory, andÌýfield-basedÌýstudies, both individualÌýand group work. Laboratory sessions mainly consist ofÌýtesting for environmental parameters (physical, chemical andÌýmicrobiological observations), and waste and wastewaterÌýrelated practical sessions.

At least, 80% attendance is required in lectures and tutorials.ÌýParticipation is compulsory in seminars and assignments such asÌýlaboratory work, design work,ÌýfiÌýeldÌýtrips etc as envisaged inÌýthe course curriculum.Ìý

Eligibility Requirements:
A degree in science from aÌýrecognisedÌýuniversity and a minimumÌýof one year of appropriate experience; the recognition of theÌýdegree to be determined by the Faculty and approved by theÌýSenate;
OR
The Degree of Bachelor of Science of Engineering of theÌýUniversity ofÌýMoratuwa, Sri Lanka or an equivalent degree inÌýa relevantÌýfieldÌýas determined by the Faculty and approvedÌýby the Senate.ÌýAt least, the associate membership of aÌýrecognisedÌýprofessionalÌýengineering institute in a relevantÌýfieldÌýand a minimum ofÌýone yearÌýof relevant experience after obtaining such membership,Ìýthe acceptability of the associate membership status of theÌýcandidate, the recognition of the institute and relevance of theÌýfieldÌýfor this purpose shall be determined by the Faculty andÌýapproved by the Senate.
