MSc / PG Diploma in Interior Design

The Master of Science in Interior Design is an advanced programme designed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the principles, theories, and practices of interior design. Throughout the programme, students explore novel approaches in spatial planning, colour theory, furniture design, lighting, materials selection, sustainability, and management of projects.

MSc in Interior Design: 60 credits
PG Diploma in Interior Design: 40 credits

Entry Requirements:

Candidates applying for the PG Diploma in Interior Design leading to Master of Science in Interior Design shall have:

(i) The Honours Degree of Bachelor of Architecture of the ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ, or an equivalent degree from a university acceptable to the Senate on the recommendation of the Faculty Board of Architecture.

OR

(ii) The Honours Degree of Bachelor of Landscape Architecture of the ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ, or an equivalent degree from a university acceptable to the Senate on the recommendation of the Faculty Board of Architecture. ÌýÌý Ìý

and

at least one (01) year of relevant experience after obtaining the Degree.

OR

(iii) The Honours Degree of Bachelor of Design of ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ, or an equivalent degree from a university acceptable to the Senate on the recommendation of the Faculty Board of Architecture,Ìý

and

at least one (01) year of relevant experience after obtaining the Degree.

OR

(iv) The Bachelor of Science in Built Environment Degree of ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ, or an equivalent degree from a university acceptable to the Senate on the recommendation of the Faculty Board of Architecture,Ìý

andÌý

at least two (02) years of relevant experience after obtaining the Degree.

OR

(v) A Bachelor’s degree in the field of Interior Design from a university acceptable to the Senate on the recommendation of the Faculty Board of ArchitectureÌý

at least one (01) year of relevant experience after obtaining the Degree.

(vi) The cooperate Membership of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects or a voting membership of a similar Professional Institution obtained through an academic route acceptable to the Senate on the recommendation of the Faculty Board of Architecture.

at least one (01) year of relevant experience after obtaining the said membership.

AND

02. Passed the eligibility examination conducted by the Department of Architecture, ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ.Ìý

All qualifications held by an applicant are subject to the approval of the Senate of the University on the recommendation of the Faculty Board of Architecture.

Duration and mode of delivery

MSc:Ìý4 semesters (Approximately 2 years)

PG Dip:Ìý2 semesters (Approximately 1 year)

Course start date is tentatively set for the 6th of July 2024.Ìý

Course work is conducted at the ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ on Fridays (1.30 p.m-5.30 p.m.) and Saturdays (8.30 a.m-5.30pm).Ìý

Online lectures are conducted on Wednesdays (6.00 p.m.-8.00 p.m.) and Thursdays (6.00 p.m.-8.00 p.m.) evenings.

For international students special provisions could be made to meet the physical attendance requirements.Ìý

Written examinations and the Comprehensive Design Project examination will be held only physically at the ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ.

Course Fees

The course fees for the local and International students are given below.

Local Students: Local fees are applicable to Sri Lankan nationals who hold Sri Lankan citizenship.

International Students: International fees are applicable to foreign nationals. Please note that the visa, travel and logistics arrangements for attending physical coursework and examinations in Sri Lanka are the responsibility of the foreign nationals.Ìý
