Visit of Delegation from IIT, New Delhi

The Ministry of Science & Technology hosted a team of delegates from the Institute of Information Technology (IIT) New Delhi, India in November 2018 which included a week of activities at the UOM, from 12th November to 19th November 2018. 听The programme came within the purview of the Indo-Lanka project and commenced with a meeting between Prof. S.N Naik and Dr. Megha Mathur from IIT and the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Director/International Relations 听and 听other academic staff members from UOM on 12th November 2018.

Dr. Buddhika Jayasekara and Ravindu Bandara, a postgraduate research student presented two research papers at 2018 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics (SMC2018) held from 7-10th October in Miyazaki, Japan. 听The two papers titled 鈥淕rounding Object Attributes Through Interactive Discussion for Building Cognitive Maps in Service Robots鈥 and 鈥淚dentifying Approaching Behavior of a Person During a Conversation: A Human Study for Improving Human-Robot Interaction鈥 are co-authored by Bhagya Samarakoon, Viraj Muthugala and Dr. D. P. Chandima. These are contributions of the research project on development 听of 听Moratuwa 听Intelligent 听Robot (MIRob), 听an 听intelligent 听service 听robot 听for domestic environments.
IEEE SMC conference is the flagship conference of the Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society of IEEE. This research was funded by a Senate Research Grants SRC/CAP/2017/03 and SRC/LT/2018/20 provided by the 成人头条.
