Premium International (Pvt)ÌýLtd and the University ofÌýMoratuwaÌý(UoM) entered into an agreement in view ofÌýestablishing a research andÌýdevelopment laboratory forÌýthe biomedical technologies.ÌýThe agreement was signedÌýon June 21, 2012 at theÌýTajÌýSamudraÌýHotel, Colombo.Ìý
The new agreement enablesÌýto carry out joint researchÌýand product developmentÌýactivities in areas such asÌýsoft-and-hard ware design ofÌýmedical and clinical devicesÌýfor use in hospitals as well asÌýfor personal healthcare apartÌýfrom designing and developingÌýhospital automation systemsÌýand providing industrialÌýtraining in selected areasÌýfor undergraduates.Ìý
The initial agreement betweenÌýthe parties will be effectiveÌýfor a period of twoÌýyears from the date of signingÌýthe agreement.The overallÌýmanagement and implementationÌýof the laboratory
will be carried out by a boardÌýof management approvedÌýwith the concurrences of theÌýparties, while the day-to-dayÌýoperations of the project willÌýbe carried out by the operationsÌýcommittee.Ìý
The agreement was signedÌýby the Director OperationsÌýMahesh Fernando on behalfÌýof the Premium InternationalÌý(Pvt) Ltd and Vice ChancellorÌýProfessorÌýAnandaÌýJayawardaneÌýon behalf of theÌýUniversity ofÌýMoratuwa.
