The听CIMA听Global Business Challenge is an听international business competition for undergraduates听around the world,听designed to bring out the best in the young business leaders of tomorrow. By working together as a team of four to present a business case study, it is a great opportunity to听showcase talent in business management.
Despite following courses in technical subjects, undergraduates from University of听Moratuwa听have always been a force to reckon with at the Country Finals of the competition, and were champions in 2009 and 2010. This year, 74 teams from 14 higher education institutes around the country participated for the听1st听round. Out of them, three teams representing听UoM: 鈥淧aragon Consultants鈥 and 鈥淎droit Consultants鈥 from the Gavel Club and 鈥淎lpha Squad鈥 from the Department of Transport and Logistics management, made it to the Finale.
鈥淧aragon Consultants鈥 consisted of Gaveliers Sirimevan Jayasundara, Hasindu听 Siyambalape, Chamanthi Jayaweera and PiyumiBandaranayake, whereas 鈥淎droit Consultants鈥 consisted of Gaveliers Merl Chandana, Samavath Mallawarachchi, Hasangi Thathsarani and Kaushalya Batawala.
After a tough battle of words and wits held on听16th听May at the听CIMA听Sri Lanka Division, 鈥淧aragon Consultants鈥 emerged victorious while 鈥淎droit Consultants鈥 became the first runners-up. The winning team will compete at the听global finals in听Warsaw, Poland听from 3-7 August 2015 where 26 teams from across the globe will represent their region in the battle to become global听champions.
