Dr. Kriengsak Panuwatwanich, Associate Professor and Head of the School of Civil Engineering Technology, Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT), Thammasat University, Thailand, and Mr. Hideki Shimazu and Ms. Kultira Tangtaswa, special representatives from ASEAN University Network/Southeast Asia Engineering Education Development Network (AUN/SEED-Net) visited the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ (UoM) on 17th January 2020. The ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ has signed a MOU with SIIT-Thammasat University and this visit was a follow-up for further collaborations. The visit of the delegates was coordinated by Dr. Mahinsasa Rathnayake, Senior Lecturer, Department of Chemical and Process Engineering.
Prof. Gihan Dias, Director, International Relations, Prof.Ìý Shantha Walpalage, Head, Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, Prof. Ajith de Alwis, Senior Professor, Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, Dr.Ìý U.P. Nawagamuwa,Ìý Senior Lecturer, Department of Civil Engineering, Prof. A.D.U.S. Amarasinghe, Professor, Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, Prof. M. Narayana, Professor, Department of Chemical and Process Engineering,Ìý Dr. Sanja Gunawardena, Senior Lecturer, Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, including many other academic staff members from Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, and Ms. Y.S. Karunarathne, Assistant Registrar, External Affairs, Publicity and International Student Promotion Division had a very productive discussion with the delegates.
At the discussion, the representatives of the two universities decided to identify interested academics from each university to initiate the following collaborations.
•ÌýÌýÌý Joint supervision of PhD students (Starting with the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering)
•ÌýÌýÌý Provide Research Internships for UoM students at SIIT, Thammasat University.
•ÌýÌýÌý Exchange faculty/staff members between the two universities.
•ÌýÌýÌý Coordination of joint projects, seminars, conferences, and other activities based on the agreement between the two universities.
