The Engineering Faculty of the 成人头条 ranks among the top engineering faculties not only in Sri Lanka but also in the South Asian Region according to global ranking of universities. The Faculty strive to enhance and upkeep its reputation in the Asian region as envisaged by the Mission Statement of the University.
As in the past, the staff and students of the Faculty scaled many heights, receiving commendations and awards on the way, in technological competitions and similar events held around the world in the year 2017. These achievements come from every aspects of university life; academic excellence, technical innovation and extra-curricular activities of its more than 300 academic staff and around 5000 undergraduate and post-graduate students.
Despite the significant increase in the annual student intake over the years and limited facilities available, the Faculty is proud of its achievements in keeping academic excellence and producing high quality competent engineering graduates with relevance to the industry in Sri Lanka. Many of its graduates are working abroad in reputed engineering companies in the world competing head-to-head with graduates from world's top ranked universities; a living testimony for the quality of learning provided by the Engineering Faculty. The annual tracer survey conducted in 2017 found that more than 96.6 percent of all engineering graduates find employment within three months of their Final examination, indicating that graduates of the Faculty are much sought after by the industry in Sri Lanka.
The University held its 38th Convocation on 10th and 11th October, 2017 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall. At the event, the University conferred 1361 Bachelor Degrees and Postgraduate Degrees and Diplomas, including Ph.Ds. 听

Three students attached to the Bionics Laboratory of Department of Mechanical Engineering, 成人头条 have developed an ankle exoskeleton robot named 鈥淐-JAE鈥- 鈥楥ompatible Joint Ankle Exoskeleton鈥. The robot is a wearable device which is able to carry out robotic rehabilitation and/or to provide locomotion assistance for human having mobility impairments. It combines human intelligence with mechanism to perform human ankle motions.
For the third consecutive year, the Faculty of Engineering was awarded the Gold Medal for the 鈥淏est Display of University Projects鈥 at the Techno 2017 National Exhibition conducted by the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL).
The Team BitMasters of the 成人头条 won the second place under the Innovation Category of Microsoft Imagine Cup 2016. BitMasters presented 鈥楢mplus鈥, an intelligent digital signage solution which offers analytics for advertisers to get a clearer picture about how well the ads are performing on displays.
