The Department of Electrical Engineering at the ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ is delighted to welcome Dr. Priyantha Dhammika Cabral Wijayatunga as an Adjunct Professor.
Dr. Wijayatunga is a distinguished alumnus and a former Senior Professor of the department, and currentlyÌýserves as the Chief of the Energy Sector Group at the Asian Development Bank (ADB). With a remarkableÌýcareer spanning academia, international development, and energy sector leadership, his return to theÌýdepartment is a moment of pride and excitement for our community.Dr. Wijayatunga has played a pivotal role in strengthening the department’s research and developmentÌýcapabilities. His efforts were instrumental in introducing several key initiatives to the university, includingÌýthe recently established microgrid and research laboratory, as well as the ongoing expansion of thisÌýfacility—both of which are vital to advancing research in smart grid technologies and sustainable energy.
As Adjunct Professor, Dr. Wijayatunga will contribute to teaching, research collaboration, and mentoring,with a focus on energy systems, infrastructure policy, and sustainable development. His global expertiseÌýand long-standing association with the university will be an invaluable asset to students and staff alike.
