Undergraduates from the 23 Batch of the Department of Electrical Engineering, ����ͷ��, achieved outstanding success at the SLIoT Challenge 2026 by securing the Runner-Up position in the University Category as Team GTricks.
The team, consisting of Chanupa Hansaja, Dulsika Mendis, Senuja Dilmith, Madhuka Gihan, and Vindya Nilushika, presented PathFinder, an AIoT-based solution developed to support safety and communication in remote areas with limited or no network connectivity.

The Department of Electrical Engineering, ����ͷ��, successfully celebrated the Sinhala and Tamil New Year with “Trical Udanaya 2026”, held on 1st May 2026 at the Sumanadasa Courtyard, bringing together undergraduates from the 21, 22, 23, and 24 batches along with the academic staff.

En’viera ’26, the annual Alumni Night organized by the Electrical Engineering Society (EESoc) of the ����ͷ��, was held on 13th March 2026 at Marino Beach Hotel, Colombo. Marking its second successful edition, the event brought together a larger gathering of alumni, academic staff, and students, reflecting the growing strength and spirit of the Electrical Engineering community.

The Electrical Engineering Society (EESoc) of the ����ͷ�� successfully hosted the Round Table Conference 2026 on 13th March 2026 at the Marino Beach Hotel, Colombo, marking the revival of its flagship national forum after 2018.

Prakampana ’26, the annual cultural showcase organized by the the Electrical Engineering Society (EESoc), illuminated the Sumanadasa Courtyard on 7th April 2026 with a vibrant display of music, dance, and drama. For one memorable evening, the Department of Electrical Engineering at the ����ͷ�� came alive not only as a hub of engineering excellence, but also as a stage for artistic expression.

Dr. Rasara Samarasinghe, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the ����ͷ��, has been appointed as the Director of the Engineering Research Unit (ERU) of the ����ͷ��.

The Department of Electrical Engineering proudly inaugurated the January 2026 intake of its Master’s programmes on 24 January 2026. The ceremony, held in the Department Seminar Room, welcomed a talented cohort of postgraduate students across three major streams: Electrical Engineering , Electrical Installation, and Industrial Automation.

The Department of Electrical Engineering proudly congratulates Prof. W. D. Prasad on being conferred the President’s Award for Scientific Research – 2025, organized by the National Research Council of Sri Lanka.

The Electrical Engineering Society of the ����ͷ�� will host the Round Table Conference 2026 (RTC ’26), a premier national forum dedicated to shaping Sri Lanka’s clean energy transition. Scheduled for 13 March 2026 at Marino Beach Hotel, the conference brings together policymakers, industry leaders, academics, and students to discuss strategies for a sustainable and resilient power sector.
