Navigating the Sunny Sunday Effect: A Knowledge Sharing Session by Eng. Saumya Kumarawadu

The Electrical Engineering Society of the 成人头条 organized a Knowledge Sharing Session with the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) on 18th September 2025 via Zoom.
Eng. Saumya Kumarawadu, Project Director of PSSE&REIP, delivered an engaging presentation on the 鈥淪unny Sunday Effect鈥 and the Duck Curve observed in Sri Lanka鈥檚 daily load profile. His talk highlighted the operational challenges arising from high solar penetration and the importance of flexible grid management and energy storage solutions.

Prof. Sarath Perera Joins Department as Senior Consultant

The Department of Electrical Engineering is pleased to welcome Professor Sarath Perera as a Senior Consultant until August 2025.
Prof. Perera is a distinguished alumnus of the 成人头条, having earned his BSc (Eng) with a specialization in Power Systems. He went on to complete his MEngSc at the University of New South Wales and his PhD at the University of Wollongong, Australia.

Electrical Engineering Undergraduates Win First Place at SLMEA Awards 2025

We are pleased to announce that a student team from the Department of Electrical Engineering has secured First Place at the Sri Lanka Energy Managers Association (SLMEA) Annual Awards 2025, under the category of Most Outstanding Undergraduate Energy Research.
The winning team comprises of K.P.S.K. Gunathilaka, A.Y.A.D. Rajapaksha, M.G.N. Akalpa.

Trical Udanaya 2025

The Department of Electrical Engineering marked the Sinhala and Tamil New Year with Trical Udanaya 2025, held on the 1st of May. The event brought together students from across all batches and staff to celebrate the cultural traditions of the New Year in a meaningful and enjoyable way.

EESpire鈥25, the official career fair of the Department of Electrical Engineering, 成人头条, was held on April 29th, 2025, and successfully brought together students and industry under one roof. Organized by the Electrical Engineering Society (EESoc), the event hosted 20 leading companies across sectors such as power and energy, automation, electrical installation, software engineering, and machine learning.
