The final report of 鈥淪afety and Technical Management Plan of Electricity Licensees鈥 to ascertain the Safe Electrical Practices in the Electricity Sector was handed over to the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka by Dr. Asanka Rodrigo. Representatives from CEB and LECO were also present at this event.
EESpire鈥22 is the official career fair of the Department of Electrical Engineering, 成人头条 which was held consecutively for the third year. It consisted several webinars which were focused on preparing the undergraduates to face the industry confidently. The first webinar was held on the 16th of May 2022 via zoom. Dr. Asanka Rodrigo has been appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Studies for Research Degree at the Faculty of Graduate Studies with the effect of 01/06/2022 for a period of 03 years. Dr. Rodrigo is a former Director of Postgraduate Studies at the Faculty of Engineering.
The official welcome of the 2020 intake to the Department of Electrical Engineering was held on the 27th of May 2022 at the Department seminar room. The event was graced by Prof. Udayanga Hemapala, Head-Department of Electrical Engineering, academic staff of the department, students of the 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 intakes, including executive committee members of the Electrical Engineering Society.
Dr. RMM Ruwanthika has been promoted to the post of Senior Lecturer Gr II in the Department of Electrical Engineering with effect from 23rd March 2022.
Prof. WDAS Wijayapala has been appointed as the Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering to succeed Prof. Udayanga Hemapala, with effect from 20th October 2022.
Prof. Wijayapala graduated from 成人头条 in 1991 specializing in Electrical Engineering. He has over 25 years of experience in the electrical engineering industry in Sri Lanka. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka and an International Professional Engineer.
The department congratulates Prof. Udayanga Hemapala, former head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, who was elected as the Dean of Faculty of Engineering of 成人头条, with effect from 20th October 2022.听
Dr. Manuja Gunawardana currently affiliated as a lecturer on contract to the Department of Electrical Engineering has completed his Ph.D. with effect from 19th July 2022.
Dr. R M M Ruwanthika resumed duties in the post of Lecturer (Probationary) in the Department of Electrical Engineering with effect from 10th August 2022. The department would like to congratulate her for successful completion of PhD degree under the supervision of Prof. Seiichiro Katsura at the Department of System Design Engineering, Keio University, Japan. Her PhD research focused on excess force reduction in bilateral control for precise and safe operation. Dr R M M Ruwanthika received the B.Sc.
Dr. Asanka Rodrigo has been appointed as a Member of the Jury of the "Presidential Awards for Innovations" by the H.E. the President of Sri Lanka. The Presidential Awards for Innovations is organised by the Sri Lanka Inventors Commission (SLIC) and awarded to 14 technical fields.
