The paper “Simulation and hardware implementation of automatic load balancer for distribution transformers” based on the final year undergraduate project conducted by Mr. Rajitha V Liyanage, Mr. Muditha Senevirathna and Mr. Akalanka Kanankege, supervised by Prof. Anura Wijayapala, Prof. JP Karunadasa and Eng. Arosha Fernando, emerged winners of the best paper contest of the 1st Sri Lankan Power Engineering Conference held virtually on 24^th October 2021.

The Annual general meeting of the Electrical Engineering society (EESoc) of the Department of Electrical Engineering, ����ͷ�� was held for the 25th consecutive time on the 30^th of July 2021 from 6.00 pm onwards in virtual mode with the presence of the Head of the Department Prof. K.T.M.U. Hemapala, other academic staff members and undergraduates of Department of Electrical Engineering.

Dr. Logeeshan Velmanickam has been appointed as a Senior Lecturer Gr-II in the Department of Electrical Engineering with effect from 4^th August 2021 by the Council of ����ͷ��. 

Dr. Priyantha Dhammika Wijayatunga, former Senior Professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering has been promoted to the post of Head of Energy Division of the Asian Development Bank. 

Electrical Engineering Society (EESoc) of the Department of Electrical Engineering, ����ͷ�� initiated a G. C. E. Ordinary Level Mathematics Seminar series as  “සිප්දරණ". The first seminar was successfully held on the 13th , 14th  and 20th  of February at Kelegama Kanishta Vidyalaya, Digannawa, Nikaweratiya.

Electrical Engineering Society (EESoc) of the Department of Electrical Engineering, ����ͷ��, took the lead in initiating a program to renovate the school laboratory of Kelegama Kanishta Vidyalaya in Nikaweratiya. That school is located in a very rural village with lack of many of the facilities. The renovation was successfully commenced on 21st December at the school premises with the presence of Dr. Thushara Rathnayaka, Dr.

Department of Electrical Engineering congratulates, Dr. Chapa Sirithunge, for successful completion of Doctor of Philosophy degree under the supervision of Prof. Buddhika Jayasekara. This is the Second PhD of the Intelligent Service Robotics Group (ISRG), Department of Electrical Engineering, ����ͷ��.

The paper “Parameter Identification for Design of an Automated Load-Frequency Control (ALFC) Scheme for Sri Lankan Power System” authored by Eng. G. Kishokumar, Eng. E.N.K. Kudahawa and Dr. Asanka Rodrigo presented at Annual Session 2020 received the “ENG E.O PEREIRA WARD FOR BEST PAPER-2020” at the 114^th Annual Session of Institute of Engineers, Sri Lanka on April 08^th, 2021 at the BMICH.
