A team of delegates from the IIT Gandhi Nagar in Gujarat, India visited the ����ͷ�� on 21st of March 2019.

Department Industry Consultative Board (DICB) Meeting of the Electrical Eng department was successfully held on 07th December 2018 at Ranuka City Hotel, Colombo 03. The key matters for the discussion were enhancing employability of Electrical Engineering undergraduates with proposed changes to the curriculum, new technology enhanced teaching laboratories and industry academia collaborative research activities. Very strong industry participation was noted and suggestions and feedbacks provided were very important in further developing the academic programs.

The Annual General Meeting of Electrical Engineering Society (EESoc) of ����ͷ�� was held for the 23rd consecutive time on 31st January 2019 from 4.30 pm onwards at the Seminar Room, Department of Electrical Engineering. The occasion was illuminated with the presence of the academic staff and undergraduates of the Department of Electrical Engineering.��

A team of the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka visited the Department of Electrical Engineering during 8 – 10 January 2019 for re-accreditation of the B.Sc. Eng degree in Electrical Engineering. The accreditation team was led by Prof. Janaka Ekanayaka. The other team members were Dr. Vijitha Herath, Eng. Sarath Tilakaratna, Mr. Martin Penn and Eng. Nihal Jayamaha as the convener.

����ͷ�� signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and entered into an agreement with Sri Lanka Telecom, the national telecommunication service provider to carry out collaborative research activities in the areas of electrical, electronics and telecommunication that have scientific, technological and economic significance to UOM, SLT and to the country as a whole.

Professor Subash Mukhopadhyay , Distinguished Lecturer, IEEE SC, School of Engineering Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia, visited the Department of Electrical Engineering and delivered a lecture for the students and staff on “WSN and IoT based Health, Home and Smart City” including micro sensors with IOT in health, home and smart city monitoring projects.

Dr. Gamini Mendis, Researcher at Perdue University in USA, delivered a talk on “Sustainable Electronics: a Global Challenge” at the Department of Electrical Engineering.��
