The Department of Electrical Engineering organized International Conference on Electrical Engineering, EECon 2018 for the second time on 28th September 2018 at the Victorian of the Kingsbury Hotel, Colombo. The conference was graced with the presence of Vice Chancellor of ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ, Prof. Kapila Perera and Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Nalin Wickramarachchi.

M. Bhagya P. Samarakoon, a postgraduate research student and Dr. M. A. Viraj J. Muthugala Ìýin the Department of Electrical Engineering .
MathWorks Mini Drone Competition IROS 2018 was held 3rd and 4th October 2018 in Madrid, Spain as a part of IEEE/RSJ IROS 2018 conference. The competition consisted with tow rounds. More than 30 teams were registered for the round 1 of the competition.Ìý In round 1, the teams had to develop a simulation model for navigating a Parrot Mamba minidrone using Matlab/Simulink.
A safety workshop was held on the 24th of July at the seminar room of Department of Electrical Engineering for their technical officers and laboratory support staff, discussing the safety guidelines, precautions and first aid requirements. The workshop was conducted by Eng. Anura Wijayapala and Dr. Asanka Rodrigo.
