🌟 Welcome to the Department of Earth Resources Engineering

Founded in 1973 through the visionary “Leeds-Katubedda Link” initiative, our department has evolved from its roots in Mining and Mineral Processing into a vibrant center for Earth Resources Engineering. Renamed in 2000, we now embrace cutting-edge fields including remote sensing and GIS, ocean resources, gem and jewellery, and petroleum engineering.

Our programs fuse scientific rigor with real-world relevance, preparing students to tackle global resource challenges. From extraction to rehabilitation, our research spans the full lifecycle of the resources industry. In 2016, we proudly earned full international accreditation under the Washington Accord — a testament to our global standards and excellence.
