1. English for ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ Purposes (EAP)

The English for ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ Purposes (EAP) program begins with an exclusive Pre-³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ Term for Engineering undergraduates, preparing them for their first year of study. This foundational program transitions into the English for Specific ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ Purposes (ESAP-Engineering) module, which runs throughout Semester 1 and 2 (Year 1). Designed to equip Engineering freshers with essential academic literacy skills, this program ensures a smooth transition to English medium education at the university.

2. Minor Electives in English Literature and Professional/³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ English

Students can pursue a Minor Degree in either English Literature or English for Professional/³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ Purposes through two dedicated streams. Each stream consists of five three-credit electives that provide in-depth exposure and training in their respective fields. These modules are available to students, primarily in the Faculty of Engineering, starting from Semester 3 and beyond, complementing their specialized Honours Degree in Engineering disciplines.

3. Humanities Electives in Languages and Social Sciences

We offer a variety of Humanities electives that cater to the interdisciplinary needs of Engineering students. These include courses in both local and international languages such as Sinhala, Tamil, Japanese, and Chinese. In addition to language modules, we provide a range of humanities courses relevant to the Engineering profession, enriching the curriculum with vital soft skills and cultural insights.

4. English and ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ Literacy for the Medical Faculty

Our reach extends to the Faculty of Medicine, where we conduct an intensive Pre-³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ English and ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ Literacy Program for incoming medical students. In addition, our modules in ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ Literacy for Medical Sciences are embedded across the major medical sciences curriculum, supporting students throughout their studies.

5. English for Architecture Students

The Faculty of Architecture benefits from our Pre-³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ Programs and embedded ESAP modules, specifically designed to align with the unique requirements of architecture and design disciplines. These programs are tailored to ensure that students develop the necessary language skills for academic success and professional growth.

6. Business English and BELF for Business Students

In collaboration with the Faculty of Business, we offer Pre-³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ Language Skills Programs and are developing embedded modules in Business English (BE) and Business English as a Lingua Franca (BELF) within the business curriculum. These initiatives prepare students to communicate effectively in global business environments.

7. Advanced Technical/Scientific Writing for Postgraduate Students

Our services extend to the Faculty of Graduate Studies and the Postgraduate Division of the Faculty of Engineering, where we offer advanced courses in Technical and Scientific Writing and Communication Skills. These courses are tailored to meet the specific needs of postgraduate research, professional presentations, and academic work.

8. Language and Communication Skills for Staff Development

We proudly serve as the sole language training provider for the Staff Development Center at the ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ. Our Tailor-Made Language and Communication Skills Programs are customized to meet the professional development needs of the university staff, empowering them with the communication skills necessary for success in academia and beyond.

9. Public Courses: Language Skills for Employment and Executives

For those outside the university, we offer several high-demand courses, includingÌýLanguage Skills for Employment, andÌýLanguage Skills for Executives, These public courses are designed to help learners master English for Specific Purposes (ESP) providing the essential skills needed to excel in professional and academic environments.

10. Pre University Skills Program: ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ Literacy For STEM Studies

For aspiring STEM students outside the university, we offer in-demand courses, including ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ Literacy for STEM Studies and Language Skills for Professionals. These public courses are tailored to help learners from Sinhala or Tamil medium backgrounds master English for Specific Purposes (ESP), equipping them with essential skills to excel in academic and professional environments.
