Disaster Risk Management

This key area focuses on the occurrence of disasters, assessment of infrastructure resilience followed by a disaster, implementation of frameworks for national disaster management and evaluation of disaster losses. The disaster risk management team collaborates with the Ministry of Health and National Disaster Management Center in disaster risk management procedures and investigates the community response in disasters. The team has contributed to introducing warning systems and evacuation procedures for many disasters occurred in Sri Lanka.

  3. Dr. C.S.A. Siriwardana has contributed for the BRITAE (Building Resilience in Tropical Agro-Ecosystems) funded by EU Erasmus+ grant scheme. It is aimed at developing MSc curriculum on agriculture-based ecological resilience and to implement a Smart Agroecosystem-based Resilience Center (SARC)

CONTRIBUTION TO NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
  1. Dr. C.S.A. Siriwardana has contributed to the Disaster Preparedness and Response Division (DPRD), Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka in the "Safe Hospital" initiative. This is to adapt the 鈥淲HO Safe Hospitals鈥 framework to the Sri Lankan context.
  2. 听Dr. C.S.A. Siriwardana was an observer in the National Tsunami Simulation Exercise. (2020 and 2017)
