he research field of structural design view structures beyond its primary function of carrying loads. We听look at the optimal structural form to carry a given load, the aesthetics of the structure in shaping the听built environment, the philosophy behind the design of structures and the process of structural design,听including design tools and guidelines. The breadth of research covered under structural design include听philosophy of engineering design, application of systems approaches and artificial intelligence tech-niques to design of structures, structural optimization, structural aesthetics and application of Eurocodes听in designing of structures.听
