Crepe paper artwork was used for 鈥楲anguage Learning鈥 on Wednesday, 20th November, 2013. Mr. Thushara Bandaranayaka conducted 5th session on 鈥淟anguage Learning with Colours鈥 for Grade 1 and 2 students using different colours of crepe paper. Mr. Roshan Fernando and Miss. Lilanthi Vithanage provided the technical assistance.
Tamil is one of the official languages used in multi-national, multi-cultural society in Sri Lanka. Motivating school children to learn Tamil would help them to understand language, culture, heritage etc. of Tamil community. As a reading camp activity, Staff of Library, 成人头条 started to facilitate teaching Tamil Language for Grade Two and Three students. From 21st January, 2014, Mr. Melro Mendis, Mr. Roshan Fernando, Miss Lilanthi Vithanage and Mrs. Nayomi Sithari are conducting 鈥淟et鈥檚 Learn Tamil鈥 programme.
Objective of the "Into the Nature" session is to create awareness about the environment among students of Grade four and five. Mrs. Chandani Kalupahana tried to create an awareness about endemic mammals, reptiles, amphibians and butterflies. Mrs, Ganga Godakanda, Mr. Roshan Fernando and Mr. Manjula Jayathilaka provided the technical assistance.
On 11th February, 2014 "Into the Nature" session was dedicated for endemic birds and fish. Mrs. Ganga Godakanda conducted the session. Students were given an opportunity to view video-clip which depict the 聽behavior of selected animals. Students also watched a documentary video on 鈥楽ri Lankan Birds鈥 produced by Wildlife Conservation Department. Mr. Roshan Fernando, Mrs. Inoka Gunathilake and Mr. Manjula Jayathilaka provided the technical assistance.
On 18th February, 2014 "Into the Nature" session was dedicated to discuss the animal world and its relationship with plants and humans. Mrs. Indu Malalgoda conducted the session. Selected video-clips of "Soba-Ketha" television programme by Central Environmental Authority were also used to facilitate this topic. Mr. Roshan Fernando and Mr. Manjula Jayathilaka provided the technical assistance.
Students were given the opportunity of visiting UoM Library for reference on Monday, 24th February, 2014. Each and every student were asked to find information about endemic animals to prepare for 聽the presentation. Mrs. Chandani Kalupahana, Mrs. Ganga Godakanda, Mrs. Indrani Jayalath and Mr. Roshan Fernando guided the students. Mr. Melro Mendis, Mrs. Umanga Karunaratne, Mr. T.H. Punyasiri, Mr. Keerthi Gunasekera, Mr. Sasanka Suranjeewa, Mr. Upul Priyantha, Mr. Sameera Perera, Mr. Manjula Jayathilaka and Mr. Priyantha Bogahagedara 聽provided the technical assistance.
On Tuesday, 18th March, 2014 聽students made speeches on selected 'Endemic animals in Sri Lanka". Mr. Roshan Fernando and Mr. Thushara Bandaranayake provided the technical assistance.
On 23rd March, 2014, students watched a documentary video on 鈥淪ri Lankan Deer鈥 produced by Wildlife Conservation Department. Based on the video, students did an information literacy assignment. Technical assistance was provided 聽by Mr. Roshan Fernando and Mr. 聽Manjula Jayathilaka.
On 30th April, 2014, a documentary video on 鈥淜nuckles Mountain Range鈥 produced by Wildlife Conservation Department was shown to students. Mr. Anura Kiriella coordinated the programme. Technical assistance was provided 聽by Mr. Roshan Fernando and Mr. 聽Chamara Herath.
Language learning activities for year 2014 was started on 30th April for Grade 1 students. In collaboration with Ms. Indika teacher-in-charge, Mr. Thushara Bandaranayaka conducted the session. Mr. Roshan Fernando and Mr. Chamara Herath provided the technical assistance.
