A Smart Classroom for Civil Engineering Students

A well-equipped Smart Classroom consisting of the newest devices related to smart learning aspects is now handed to the Transportation Engineering Division, Civil Engineering Department of the 成人头条, funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union. The classroom specifically promotes visual learning using smart technology devices such as an Interactive whiteboard, a Smart Podium and Motion Sensor Cameras. It facilitates carrying out lecture sessions smoothly for both in-class and online participants simultaneously with many teacher-assisting functions. The Smart Interactive Board consists of a completely interactive screen with many inbuilt tools that could be used in explaining concepts, drawing graphs and images, annotating hand notes onscreen, and highlighting required sections in a lecture slide.

A staff development program for the non-academic staff of the Department of Civil Engineering

A staff development program was conducted for the non-academic staff of the Department of Civil Engineering on office automation. The program was conducted by Mr Charaka Satharasinghe with the support of the Head, Department of Civil Engineering Professor Chintha Jayasinghe and the In-charge of the Computer Resources Unit, Professor Lalith Rajapakshe. The event started on 31st August 2020 and the main focus was to develop the IT skills of the department of civil engineering staff members. The course was well planned to equip the non-academic staff with the essential IT skills and to the ability to access common IT facilities offered by the University and online tools

Road Safety Awareness Program for school students organized by the Highway Engineering Society of the Department of Civil Engineering, 成人头条

鈥淩oad Safety Awareness Program鈥, an event annually organized by the Highway Engineering Society of the 成人头条 to educate school students about road safety, was held this year on 6th August 2022 and 13th August 2022 with the collaboration of 鈥淰idumagata Sawiyak鈥 organization. This program was funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) through the iRoad Project of the Road Development Authority (RDA).

A Final year research project conducted at the department of civil engineering, 成人头条 has been awarded 2nd place at the 鈥淓merging Civil Engineer Awards 2022鈥 organized by the Sri Lankan Association of Institution of Civil Engineers (SLAice). This fleet has been achieved by Mr. U.A.K. Premakumara, presenting his final year research themed 鈥楧evelopment of an Overall Construction Productivity Assessment Framework and an Improvement Model鈥 under the supervision of Dr. C. S. A. Siriwardana.

Springer book published with the proceedings of a Conference organised by the Department of Civil Engineering

The Conference Proceedings of the International Conference on Road and Airfield Pavement Engineering hosted by the Department of Civil听Engineering were published by Springer in their book series Lecture Notes in Civil Engineering. The book was edited by Dr. H.R. Pasindu, Prof. Wasantha Mampearachchi, Prof. Saman Bandara and Prof. T.F. Fwa.
