Guest Lecture by Eng. Dhanushka Perera on the Nature of the Construction Industry and Associated Risks at the Department of Civil Engineering

Eng. Dhanushka Perera, CEO of Tokyo Supermix (Pvt) Ltd., which is a part of Tokyo Cement Group delivered an interactive lecture session, 鈥淣ature of the Construction Industry and Risks 鈥 How Should Engineering Graduates Prepare Their Careers鈥, to the final year undergraduates of the Department of Civil Engineering. The session was held at the Civil Engineering Auditorium on 4th May 2023. Eng. Dhanushka shared his vast experience in a range of industries, namely engineering, construction, cement and ready mixed concrete, equity research, investment banking, credit ratings, leasing & finance and procurement. Students had the opportunity to engage with Eng. Dhanushka during the interactive session, in which they discussed the current situation of the construction industry, the job market for civil engineering graduates in civil engineering and other fields, the employer requirements for fresh graduates, etc. The event was organized by the Civil Engineering Society (CES).

Prof. Chinthaka Mallikarachchi and Dr. H.R. Pasindu of the Department of Civil Engineering have been awarded Fulbright Advanced Research and Lecturing Awards for 2023-2024. Prof. Mallikarachchi will work on simulating self-deployable structures at the California Institute of Technology, while Dr. Pasindu will conduct research on safety optimization in pavement preservation projects at the Georgia Institute of Technology. The experience and exposure received by them will be beneficial for the development of teaching and research activities at 成人头条.
